PRIDE OF PORTUGAL WOWS OLYMPIA

The Lusitanos received standing ovations from packed Olympia audiences for their spectacular musical ride, presenting traditional Portuguese equestrian art - showcasing harmonious and precise formation riding, Grand Prix movements ridden one-handed, carousels and work with the garrocha, all staged with dramatic lighting effects.

The 16 horses and their professional riders were brought together at Golegã in early November to train for the display, specially choreographed for Olympia.

They gave 12 performances over the 7 days of the show - “The World’s Best Equestrian Christmas Party” - and their display was included in the BBC’s television coverage and the show’s official video.

Their visit was organised by Sussex Lusitanos in association with N.Pimenta and C & B Worldwide.

International dressage rider Manuel Borba Veiga performed high school movements without a bridleriding Varão da Brõa, owned and bred by his father, Manuel Tavares Veiga

Backstage visitors meeting riders and Lusos included the Duchess of Cambridge, Rory Bremner, James May and Richard Hammond.
